Joe Jhala is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in portfolio management and investment strategies. Currently serving as a Portfolio Manager at Mariner Investment Group, LLC since October 2024, Jhala previously held a similar position at 1Sharpe Capital from 2016 to October 2024, where Jhala contributed to the founding team and built one of the largest aggregators of Residential Transition Loans, achieving over $10 billion in cumulative acquisitions. Earlier experience includes roles as a Macro Portfolio Manager at Mariner Investment Group (2013-2015), a Vice President at BlackRock (2008-2013) focusing on US Rates and Mortgage markets, and an Associate at Barclays Global Investors (2006-2007) primarily structuring new issue synthetic CDOs. Jhala is a CFA Charterholder and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business/Finance from USC Marshall School of Business in 2006.
