Melanie Kimbel is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in nonprofit management and fundraising. Currently serving as the Advancement Director at the Marine Science Institute since April 2015, Kimbel previously worked as a Grant Writer for the San Jose Conservation Corps and Charter School and held leadership roles on various boards, including as VP of Marketing for the Association of Fundraising Professionals and a board member for the Heart Walk Foundation. Kimbel has also held significant positions at the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory as Director of Development, the Sempervirens Fund as Director of Marketing & Annual Campaign, and Other relevant roles at the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada, Our City Forest, and the Girl Scouts of Santa Clara County. Kimbel began a career in public service as a Field Representative for the U.S. House of Representatives, gaining a bachelor's degree in Public Relations from San Jose State University.
