Raymond Hernandez

Raymond Hernandez is a former journalist for The New York Times who leads Marathon’s investigative research practice and its application in media relations, litigation support, crisis management, message development, and public affairs campaigns. He draws on an extensive knowledge of government, politics, and media issues, as well as investigative and narrative skills developed as a journalist

Ray’s previous experience includes more than two decades at the New York Times – including a long stint covering New York politics and policy – where he wrote high-profile investigative reports and enterprise pieces covering a long list of prominent elected officials and organizations. His coverage examined a broad cross-section of matters, from housing and social welfare issues to public integrity and money in both government and politics. He has a deep understanding of the budgeting, legislative, and regulatory processes at both the state and federal levels.

In 2011, the New York Times nominated an investigative project he authored for the Pulitzer Prize. Ray is a graduate of Pace University and has taught journalism at George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs.
