Sandro Calvani serves as the President of the Consiglio scientifico dell'Istituto Giuseppe Toniolo per il diritto internazionale della pace since January 2022 and is the Senior Adviser on Strategic Planning for the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, a role held since June 2013, focusing on improving the quality of life for impoverished communities. Calvani has been a member of the Global Agenda Council on Poverty with the World Economic Forum since April 2007, where contributions include advising on practices to alleviate chronic poverty. Previous academic roles include Professor of Politics of Development at Webster University Thailand and Professor of Humanitarian Issues at the Asian Institute of Technology. Calvani has held various leadership positions within the UN system, including Director at UNICRI and the United Nations ODC. Education includes experience as a visiting scientist at Colorado State University and foundational studies at B. Arecco High School in Genoa, Italy.
