Shelby VanHecker, CISSP, CDPSE, is a dedicated cybersecurity professional currently serving as a Cybersecurity Instructor at Madison Area Technical College since July 2024, where passion for teaching and student engagement is evident. As the Founder and Executive Sponsor of the Determined Student Scholarship at Milton High School, Shelby awards scholarships annually to deserving students who demonstrate academic excellence while balancing work commitments. Shelby brings extensive experience from the Wisconsin Air National Guard as a Cyber Systems Operations Craftsman and Technical Sergeant, as well as previous leadership roles including Chief Information Security Officer at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and Information Security Risk and Compliance Manager at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Information Science and Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an Associate of Applied Science in Cyber Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force.
