Brian Shortsleeve

Brian Shortsleeve is passionate about helping founders and CEOs rapidly scale their companies. He works closely with management teams to drive growth through sales-and-go-to-market expansion and execution of strategic acquisitions.

Prior to founding M33, Brian served as the Chief Administrator and Acting General Manager of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). He was handpicked by Governor Charlie Baker in 2015 to develop and execute a plan to put the MBTA on the path to long-term fiscal sustainability. During his tenure, Brian worked closely with the MBTA Fiscal and Management Control Board and led efforts to balance the operating budget, modernize internal businesses processes by leveraging technology, rapidly accelerate the pace of capital investment in critical system repairs, and build the team to turnaround the Green Line Extension project.

Before the MBTA, Brian worked in strategy consulting and investing at Bain & Company, H.I.G. Capital, and most recently, General Catalyst, where he served as a managing director and led growth-stage investments in software and technology-enabled services companies. Brian served on the boards of Axium Software (acquired by Deltek), CLEAResult (acquired by General Atlantic), Envoy Global (acquired by Palladium Equity), Oceans Healthcare, and OGSystems (acquired by Parsons).

At M33 Growth, Brian serves on the board of W Energy Sofware, Titan Cloud Software, Mize, Inc (acquired by Syncron); L2L, BeSmartee, SmartKargo, GoDocs and Performline.

Brian is a Massachusetts native, graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School, and served as a Marine officer in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Persian Gulf. He has been named one the 50 Most Influential People in Boston by the Boston Business Journal and The Boston Globe named him to the ā€œ2016 Game Changersā€ list, which recognizes leaders doing extraordinary things to reshape life and work in the greater Boston area.
