James Wu

Partner at M12

James is a Partner for M12 in the Bay Area, investing in business and infrastructure software with a focus on DevOps, data science, fintech, and cybersecurity. He sourced and led M12’s investment in Arkose Labs where he serves as a Board Director, and co-led M12’s investments in Pachyderm—the fund’s first investment in open source software—and SuperAwesome, which was subsequently acquired by Epic Games. James has also contributed to investments in Applied Intuition, Bakkt, Go1, Incorta, Innovaccer, Syntiant, and Skedulo; and manages M12’s growth stage investments in existing portfolio companies.

Previously, he was an investor with FTV Capital, a growth equity fund with ~$4B of assets under management. There, he sourced and executed on multi-stage investments in enterprise technology and services, including deals in cybersecurity, marketing technology, HR technology and DevOps. James began his career at Jefferies TMT group, where he focused on M&A, debt, and equity transactions for software and internet companies.

James is a mentor at 10x Innovation Lab, an incubator for Taiwanese startups, and serves as the Corporate Venture Lead at the Emerging Venture Capitalists Association, a nonprofit organization supporting early-in-career investors. James received his BA in Economics and Accounting from UCLA.
