Steve joined M&J Evans in October 2020 as CFO. Prior to joining the business, Steve has 33 years’ experience in manufacturing and mining. He is a chartered accountant and holds an MBA.
Steve has held many senior roles including most recently Corporate Development Director for British Steel where he was responsible for the M&A strategy. He was also in charge of transformation, focusing on the introduction of new processes and eliminating waste to reduce the cost base whilst facilitating growth following its acquisition by private equity.
Prior to that Steve was the CFO at UK Coal, a business that required attention to the highest standards of H&S against a backdrop of a diminishing market. Steve was responsible for the restructure and re-finance of the business to ensure a safe operation and a managed decline through a focus on performance improvement and strict cash management.
Steve also held the post of CFO at Bridon International, a successful business focusing on capital investment, product innovation whilst maintaining strict control of the balance sheet.
Steve has full responsibility for developing and deploying the financial strategy for M&J Evans to create value and to support the executive in building the business into a significant presence in our market place.
