Kristel Mucino is an experienced communications and marketing professional currently serving as the Director of Narrative Change at Luminate since April 2020. In this role, Kristel leads global narrative change initiatives utilizing film, television, and pop culture to promote social change, collaborating across teams to counter harmful narratives. Previously, Kristel held the position of Principal and Deputy Vice President of Communications and Marketing at UnidosUS from March 2019 to April 2020, where co-management of the communications department and collaboration on domestic policy issues were key responsibilities. Prior experience includes serving as the Vice President of Communications at the Washington Office on Latin America from October 2011 to February 2019, where significant policy advocacy was achieved. Kristel's freelance work as a strategic communications consultant and background as a journalist for V-Me, a national Hispanic TV network, further enriches a robust professional profile. Academically, Kristel holds a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Boston University.
