Joaquín Cintrón Vega has a wealth of experience in the housing industry. Joaquín currently serves as the President & CEO of Lucas Metropolitan Housing, where they provide leadership and direction to drive growth and achieve the agency's mission. Prior to this role, they were the Director of Public Housing for Miami-Dade County. Joaquín also held the position of Chief Financial Officer / VP of Asset Management at Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority. Earlier in their career, Joaquín worked at the Departamento de la Vivienda, where they held various roles such as Senior Budget Analyst, Senior Accountant, Audits Coordinator, and Accountant. Joaquín also served as the Emergency Management Coordinator during their time at Departamento de la Vivienda.

Joaquín Cintrón Vega earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Accounting from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, which they attended from 1996 to 1999. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including the Executive Director Education Program from Rutgers University Center for Government Services in January 2023. Joaquín also holds certifications from FEMA, including ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incident, Introduction to Incident Command System ICS-100, National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction, and National Response Framework, An Introduction, all obtained in June 2014.
