Tamika L. Butler has dedicated their career to fighting for social and environmental justice. As the current Director at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, Tamika is committed to helping the LGBTQ community in Los Angeles thrive.
Before their current role, Tamika served as the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust (LANLT). During their time at LANLT, Tamika worked tirelessly to create urban parks and gardens in underserved communities across Los Angeles. Tamika was also responsible for developing campaigns to address social and environmental conditions, such as park equity and land use policy improvements.
Tamika is a powerful advocate for change. Tamika has partnered with community-based organizations, government agencies, and key stakeholders to advance the work of the Land Trust. Tamika has also led initiatives to develop and influence local, state, and national policy to positively impact historically underserved communities.
Under Tamika's leadership, the Land Trust has grown significantly, transforming communities across Los Angeles. Tamika is a passionate and inspirational leader who is committed to making a difference in the world.
Tamika L. Butler has a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a specialization in Criminal Justice from Creighton University. Tamika also has a Doctor of Philosophy in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. Finally, they have a Doctor of Law from Stanford Law School.
