Tania Mazzetti joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2016 as Co-Principal Second Violin, and was appointed Principal Second Violin in November 2018.
Tania grew up in Italy, studying violin with Glauco Bertagnin, Salvatore Accardo and Dora Schwarzberg, and chamber music with the Altenberg Trio Wien. She graduated in 2000 with the highest score possible.
Tania began her orchestral career with the Orchestra Symphonica Toscanini under Lorin Maazel. She has also played in the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala, the Filarmonica della Scala, the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice di Venezia and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and was a regular guest of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. From 2014–16 she was Concertmaster of the Orchestra del Teatro Lirico di Cagliari in Sardinia.
A keen chamber musician, Tania has performed recitals with piano throughout Italy. She also founded the Archi Riflessi String Quartet, which uses innovative and interactive modes of communication to engage wider and more diverse audiences with classical music.
Since joining the London Philharmonic Orchestra Tania has performed several chamber music concerts with her LPO colleagues, in venues such as Wigmore Hall in London and the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest as part of the Enescu Festival.
