Amory is a physicist, environmental scientist, and prolific author. He is currently Chairman/Chief Scientist of the Rocky Mountain Institute, the sustainability organization he co-founded in 1982. His pioneering energy studies began at Harvard and Oxford, eventually leading him back to the United Stated to settle in Colorado. Amory’s concepts of soft energy paths, the negawatt, and the hypercar have influenced countless people and organizations. Amory was named a MacArthur Fellow in 1993, and in 2009, Time Magazine named him as one of the world’s 100 most influential people.
