Joe Walker began their work experience in 1984 as a Staff Auditor at Arthur Andersen & Co. In 1986, they moved on to LifeWay Christian Resources, where they held various roles including Budget and Financial Analyst, Manager of Budgeting and Analysis, Corporate Controller, and Senior VP and CFO. Joe joined LifeWay Christian Resources in 1986 and is currently serving as Senior VP and CFO since October 2017.

Joe Walker earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Tennessee - Martin between 1981 and 1984. Joe also obtained a CPA certification from the Tennessee Board of Accountancy in 1986.
