Sumeet Chabria

Mr. Chabria leads a global team of over 22,000 employees providing technology, operations and business capabilities for all of Bank of America’s lines of businesses. Chabria is a member of the bank’s Management Operating Committee and chairs the board of one of Bank of America’s international subsidiaries. He frequently represents the bank on Artificial Intelligence at various forums including branches of the US government.

Chabria is a member of the Council for the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence at Harvard Kennedy. He is a sponsor of the bank’s Executive Education program on Operations at University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. His responsibilities also include running all shared technology services globally and managing all technology contractors and resourcing vendors.

Before joining the bank in May 2015, Chabria held various leadership positions for 24 years across US and Europe. He worked for eight years in London, most recently as Chief Information Officer for Global Banking & Markets at HSBC, where he was responsible for technology, data and shared operations teams with over 10,000 employees across Americas, Europe and Asia. He also served in a business role as the Global Head of One HSBC Securities and Wealth, and in various global markets as CIO and in front-line roles across fixed income, derivatives, risk and electronic trading.

Chabria began his career with technology start-ups and consulting in New York leading financial innovations across both buy- and sell-side firms, including asset management and hedge funds. Clients included Goldman, Swiss Bank, Credit Suisse First Boston, Republic, Bridgewater, Wasserstein Perella and Omega Advisors. In 2014, Chabria’s organization received Euromoney’s Best Wholesale Banking Technology Innovation award. Previous accolades include the American Financial Technology Awards (Waters) and the European Banking Technology Awards.

Chabria holds a master’s degree in management, master’s degree in technology and bachelor’s degree in computer science from Stony Brook University with executive education from Michigan Ross, IMD Lausanne and London Business School.
