Alix Macfarlane currently serves as the Programme Director for Communications and Engagement at Slough Borough Council, a position held since July 2024. With extensive experience in various roles within communications, Alix has also held significant positions at LGcomms, including Vice Chair and National Secretary, since May 2018. Additional roles include Communications Consultant for both Pride Brighton & Hove CIC and the Local Government Association since 2022 and 2017 respectively, as well as interim Director of Communications at Thurrock Council from March 2023 to April 2024. Previous experience includes a range of communication positions at Southwark Council, West Sussex County Council, and Brighton & Hove City Council, where Alix started as a Marketing Officer and progressed to Deputy Head of Communications. Alix's educational background includes a BA Hons in History from the University of Sussex, an NCTJ Post Graduate Diploma in Newspaper Journalism, and training in improving team performance and personal development from the Chartered Management Institute.
