David Kilmnick has extensive work experience in the field of social work and academia. David is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Instruction and Chair of the Online Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at the University of South Florida. In this role, they provide academic and administrative leadership for the program, including curriculum development, budgeting, and personnel management. David is also responsible for student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.
Prior to this, David founded and served as the President/CEO of the LGBT Network, an association of four nonprofit organizations that provide services to the LGBT community in Long Island and Queens. David has also held various teaching positions, including Adjunct Professor roles at Fordham University, Walden University, Purdue University Global, University of Maryland University College, Stony Brook University, and Nassau Community College. Their teaching expertise includes subjects like social work practice, grant writing, fundraising, marketing, and organizational management.
David has experience in distance education and online teaching, serving as the Distance Education Director and Online MSW Instructor at the University of Northern Iowa. David has also served as an affiliate faculty member in the Department of Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of South Florida.
Throughout their career, David has demonstrated a strong commitment to social work education, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and community service.
David Kilmnick began their education at Long Island University, where they earned their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication. David then went on to pursue a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Stony Brook University, which they completed between 1991 and 1993. Later, David furthered their academic journey by attending The Graduate Center, City University of New York, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Social Work from 2000 to 2006.
