Medical Science And Outcomes Lead at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals

Sana Ghaddar, PhD, RD, RN, PHN has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Starting in 1998, they worked as a Clinical Dietitian at Sutter Health before transitioning to the role of Renal Dietitian I and II at DaVita Kidney Care Managed. Sana then served as an Assistant Professor and Researcher at the American University of Beirut from 2004 to 2008. Following this, they joined Touro University as an Assistant Professor, where they developed the nutrition certification program and taught various courses. In 2008, Sana became a Renal Dietitian III, Facility Administrator, and Centralized Anemia Manager at DaVita Kidney Care, where they also conducted training sessions and contributed to staff education. Sana briefly served as the VP of Integration and Clinical Excellence at Sanderling Renal Services-USA LLC in 2021. From 2020 to 2021, they worked as a Clinical Nurse Supervisor at Landmark Health, overseeing patient care management. Moving on, Sana held multiple roles at the National Kidney Foundation, including being a faculty member for the Global Renal Internet Course for Dietitians and a member of the Nutrition and Anemia Workgroup Expert Panels. Their contributions to the field of nutrition in chronic kidney disease include co-developing and co-publishing evidence-based practice guidelines. Most recently, in 2022, they became the Medical Science and Outcomes Lead at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Sana Ghaddar, PhD, RD, RN, PHN has an extensive education history. Sana completed their Bachelor of Science in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse at Samuel Merritt University. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in Gerontology at San Francisco State University. Additionally, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Food Science from the same university. To further their education, Dr. Ghaddar earned a Doctor of Philosophy in International Public Health/International Health from Touro University.

In addition to their academic achievements, Dr. Ghaddar has obtained several certifications. Sana completed a Project Management certification from Udemy in June 2021. In December 2020, they acquired the Public Health Nurse certification from the California Board of Registered Nursing. Prior to that, they obtained their Registered Nurse certification from the same board in December 2019. Dr. Ghaddar has also completed various specialized certifications, which include Safety Management and Response Technique from Samuel Merritt University in July 2019, a Youth Mental Health Certificate from Youth For Mental Health in July 2019, an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certificate from the American Heart Association in March 2019, an Advanced EKG Certificate from Project Heartbeat in March 2019, and a Basic Life Support Certificate from the American Heart Association in November 2018.

Lastly, Dr. Ghaddar obtained the Registered Dietitian certification from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in May 1998.
