Malay Kapoor started their career in 2005 as a Human Resources Manager at Commonwealth of Learning, where they provided advisory services for HR programs and implemented various systems. Malay then worked at Amazon from 2016 to 2017 as a Recruiter for Senior Engineers in the eCommerce Platform. In 2018, they had a contract role at Mknetwork Inc. From 2019 to 2021, Malay worked at TELUS Communications as a Talent Acquisition Consultant for Tech Strategy & Telus Health, where they partnered with hiring managers and conducted assessments and interviews. Since 2021, they have been with Microsoft as a Global Talent Partner, leading the hiring process for principal engineering roles and providing various talent services.

Malay Kapoor has a diverse education history. In 2007, they obtained a Certificate in Talent Management from the Institute for Personality and Ability Testing, Inc. in Illinois, USA. Malay also received a Certificate in Behavioural Assessment from an advanced training on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator held in Vancouver in 2006 and again in 2018.

In terms of formal education, Malay Kapoor pursued a Master's Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology (Honors) from Delhi University. The specific years of these degrees are not provided.

Malay Kapoor further enhanced their skills by completing a Certificate in Systems and Management from Training in Systems & Management, NIIT Ltd. In 2020, they obtained a Predictive Index Behavioural Assessment certification from The Predictive Index. Most recently, in 2023, they acquired a Diversity Recruiting certification from LinkedIn.
