Rebecca Lahl has extensive work experience in the field of marine and environmental research and conservation. Rebecca is currently the Head of Office for Knowledge Exchange at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) GmbH, a position they have held since August 2019. Prior to this, they worked as an Advisor for Marine Conservation at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH from June 2016 to July 2019. Rebecca also has experience as a Scientific Assistant at BZL Kommunikation und Projektsteuerung GmbH from January 2014 to May 2016, and as a Guest Scientist at Alfred Wegener Institute of Polar and Marine Research AWI from March 2014 to May 2015. Rebecca was a Fellow at IRI THESys - Integrative Research Institute for Transformations of Human-Environment Systems from April 2013 to March 2014. Additionally, Rebecca has worked as a Student Assistant at the University of Bremen and the Bundestag (2013-2013 and 2012-2013, respectively), and as an Intern at the Bundesverband Erneuerbare Energie e.V. (2012) and the Centro de Investigación CientÃfica de Yucatán (2011).
Rebecca Lahl completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Umweltwissenschaften from the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg from 2009 to 2013. Rebecca then went on to pursue their Master of Science degree in Integrated Natural Resource Management from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where they studied from 2012 to 2015.
