Amelia Jernigan serves as the Medical Director of Cancer Services at University Medical Center New Orleans since September 2023 and as the Division Director of Gynecologic Oncology at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans since August 2016. With extensive experience in managing women’s cancers, Amelia Jernigan performs surgeries, administers chemotherapy, and provides care throughout various stages of cancer survivorship. Prior roles include Medical Director of Gynecologic Oncology at University Medical Center New Orleans and completion of a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Cleveland Clinic. Training as a resident in Gynecology and Obstetrics was completed at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where Amelia Jernigan also served as Chief Resident. Amelia Jernigan holds a Medical Doctorate from Jefferson Health and a Bachelor of Science in Women's Studies and Neuroscience from Tulane University.
