Adam Nicolai

Senior Director Of Community Engagement And Partnerships at LAWRENCE FAMILY JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTERS OF SAN DIEGO COUNTY

Adam Nicolai has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of arts education and program management.

Adam is currently serving as the Senior Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships at the Lawrence Family JCC, JACOBS FAMILY CAMPUS since April 2022, where they play a pivotal role in community engagement and establishing partnerships.

Prior to this, they worked at the Oceanside Museum of Art from August 2019 to November 2021. During their tenure, they held the positions of Director of Education & Public Programs and Director of Programs & Operations. In these roles, they led educational and community-based programming, implemented digital engagement strategies, and expanded public programs to make the museum more accessible.

From September 2016 to July 2019, they worked at the Center Theatre Group as an Arts Education Program Manager. Adam successfully managed the Student Matinee Program and launched the Disney Musicals in Schools Program in the LA market.

Before that, Adam worked at Young Audiences Arts for Learning New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. Adam served as the Artist Services Manager and Eastern PA Operations Director, where they developed artist recruitment procedures and contributed to the growth of the organization in the Eastern Pennsylvania region. Adam also worked as an Arts Education Program Associate, managing various arts programs and grant-funded initiatives.

Their earlier experiences include working as a Resident Teaching Artist at the WR Cross Cultural Institute, where they conducted teaching residencies, and as a Residency Coordinator and Professional Apprentice in Theatre Education at the Walnut Street Theatre. In these roles, they supervised workshop programs, managed teaching artists, and oversaw arts partnerships with schools.

Adam Nicolai earned their Bachelor's degree in Theatre/Theater from Goucher College, where they attended from 2003 to 2007. Adam furthered their education at Goucher College by pursuing a Master's degree in Arts Administration, which they completed from 2012 to 2015.
