James Matthews serves as the Mathematics Department Chair and a Mathematics Teacher at Landon School since 2009, specializing in Pre-Algebra and Algebra I and II. Responsibilities include developing innovative project-based curricula, advising middle school boys, and creating the Middle School Leadership Program. In addition to teaching, James has contributed significantly as a water polo and swim coach across various levels, founding several programs and leading teams. James also played a key role in admissions as the Assistant Director, enhancing prospective family engagement through interviews, tours, and social media marketing efforts. Previous experience includes teaching and mentoring at Choate Rosemary Hall, founding a water polo league, and co-founding a coastal apparel company. Education includes dual Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and History from the University of Virginia and a Master’s degree in Real Estate from Georgetown University.
