Steve Poort is an experienced professional with a background in law enforcement and military service. Currently serving as a K9 handler for explosive detection at Lake Michigan Carferry since March 2022, Steve is adept at identifying explosive components, ammunition, and firearms. Prior experience includes working as a foreman in shipping and receiving at Seneca Foods Corporation and a distinguished 20-year career at Harford County Sheriff's Office, where Steve retired as a Senior Deputy First Class. Before this, Steve served as a Military Police officer in the U.S. Army, including roles as a team leader responsible for the training and supervision of soldiers in high-stakes environments. Educational qualifications include an Associate of Science in Business Administration and Management from American InterContinental University and specialized training from Harford County SWAT School.
