Kent McKenzie has a strong background in emergency management and communications. Kent began their career as the EMS Director and later the Emergency Services Director at Granville County Government in North Carolina. Kent then moved on to become the Deputy Emergency Management Director at Orange County Government in Hillsborough, NC. In 2007, they joined Lake County, Illinois as their Emergency Management Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator. Currently, they serve as the Director of 9-1-1 Communications at the Lake County Sheriff's Office in Illinois, where they manage the 9-1-1 Center and related communications systems.
Kent McKenzie obtained a Certificate in County Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003. Kent also earned a Certificate in Emergency Medical Services Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1996. In 1988, Kent McKenzie graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Kent has additional certifications including the Illinois Professional Emergency Manager (IPEM) from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, obtained in September 2010, and the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) from the International Association of Emergency Managers, obtained in May 2007.
