Alistair Carns serves as the Minister for Veterans and People at the UK Ministry of Defence since July 2024, and concurrently as the Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Birmingham, Selly Oak. Previously, Alistair Carns held the position of Colonel at the UK Ministry of Defence from October 2022 to May 2024, following a notable career in the Royal Navy, culminating as Chief of Staff for UK Strike Forces from September 2021 to December 2022. Alistair Carns's extensive experience includes significant roles, such as Military Assistant to three Secretaries of State for Defence and leading staff officer for Royal Navy and Royal Marine Strategy. Educationally, Alistair Carns obtained a Master's degree in Defence from King's College London after completing the Advanced Command and Staff College at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom.
