Howard Chiou, MD, PhD, currently serves as the Chief of the Disease Control Informatics Branch and Senior Advisor for Applied Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health since January 2024. Concurrently, Howard holds the position of Adjunct Faculty at Emory University since November 2020. Prior experience includes leadership roles at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from July 2018 to November 2023, leading the CDC Innovation team and serving as a Medical Officer in various capacities. Howard also served in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service as a Lieutenant Commander from July 2019 to November 2023 and completed a Transitional Residency at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center from July 2016 to June 2018. Academic credentials include an MD and a PhD in Anthropology from Emory University, along with an MS and a BA in Anthropology and Human Biology, respectively, from Stanford University.
