Former Minister of Oil & Minister of Electricity and Water, Dr. Khaled Al-Fadhel has over 25 years’ experience in academia and the public sector, and has served in several leadership roles across academic and non-governmental organizations.
In March 2021, he was appointed Director-General of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences. In this role, he also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Al-Sumait Prize for African Development (AlSumaitPrize.org).
Dr. Al-Fadhel also served as Minister of Oil & Minister of Electricity and Water, and Chairman of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, from 2018 till 2020. During his time in office, he maintained Kuwait’s effective role in OPEC and in the global oil market.
Dr. Khaled Al-Fahdel holds a Ph.D. in Mathematical Modeling of Micro-Chemical Systems from Lehigh University, with a specialization in Chemical Engineering. He also holds an MSc in Analytical Approaches to Multicomponent Diffusion and the 3D Navier-Stokes from Lehigh University and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Kuwait University.
He was appointed to the Board of Directors at Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) on August 5, 2021, for a four-year term.
