Hyunjin Seo

Oscar Stauffer Professor & Associate Dean For Research And Faculty Development at The University of Kansas

Hyunjin Seo is a Professor and the Oscar Stauffer Chair at The University of Kansas, serving as Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development and directing the KU Center for Digital Inclusion. With a focus on social media, research methods, and strategic campaigns, Hyunjin has conducted research on the impact of digital and social media on social change, previously holding roles as an Associate Professor, Docking Faculty Scholar, and Faculty Senate Member at the university. Additionally, Hyunjin is a Faculty Associate and Fellow at Harvard University's Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society, an Affiliate at metaLAB (at) Harvard, and a Consultant for Freedom House. Past positions include serving as Associate Editor for Visual Communication Quarterly, an inaugural postdoctoral research fellow at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, and holding various journalism roles, including Chief Correspondent to the Blue House for The Korea Herald. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Mass Communication and an MA in Journalism from Syracuse University and the University of Missouri-Columbia, respectively.
