Sungmin Kim is a Graduate Student Researcher at Georgia Institute of Technology since August 2022, focusing on mobile robot applications aimed at enhancing diagnostic AI in nuclear power plants. Sungmin has developed a feature selection technique for robotic measurements, created an integrated digital twin of robots and power plants using ROS and OMNIVERSE, and implemented a massive data generation code for machine learning simulations. Prior to this, Sungmin served as a Senior Researcher at Korea Electric Power Corporation, specializing in machine learning-based diagnostics for machinery and vibration/noise engineering. Sungmin also completed a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University, where research included a crack detection method for wind turbine blades, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Kyushu University, where early research focused on fluid-elastic vibration problems. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, expected completion in August 2026.
