Linda Empringham

Linda Empringham has an extensive work experience spanning several industries and positions. Linda began their career as an Assistant English Teacher at the Japanese Ministry of Education JET Programme from August 1988 to July 1989. Linda then worked as an English Language Teacher at a private language company from 1989 to 1990.

In 1993, Linda joined The British Library as a Manager in the Oriental Section of the Document Supply Centre. Linda then advanced to become the Marketing Manager for Asia from 1994 to 1996, and later became the Head of International Marketing from 1996 to 1997.

From 1997 to 2000, Linda worked at OVID TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED as an Area Sales Manager, responsible for Benelux, Eastern Europe, Israel, and the Nordics.

In 2000, Linda joined Brill as a Sales Manager, a role they held until 2008. Linda then took on the position of Library and Consortia Sales Manager Europe from 2008 to 2013. After that, they became the International Sales Director from 2014 to 2017. Their most recent role at Brill was as the Sales Director for EMEA, Japan, Korea, and South Asia, overseeing the management of the sales team and external representatives, as well as being directly responsible for licensing Brill's e-resources to various institutions.

Linda Empringham pursued their education with a meandered path, beginning with their enrollment at the University of Leeds from 1984 to 1988. After a brief break, Linda resumed their academic journey in 1991, joining the University of Essex, where they completed their Master of Arts in Contemporary Japan in 1992. Throughout this degree program, they explored various subjects, including Japanese language, economics, politics, and society.
