Yakob Arfin has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Yakob started working as a Research Assistant at Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) in December 2012 and worked there until May 2013. Yakob then joined ANTARANEWS.com as a Journalist from August 2013 to January 2014, where they were responsible for reporting tasks and maintaining relations with news sources.

In February 2015, Yakob joined Kompas.com as a Kurator Kompasiana, the biggest citizen journalism platform in Indonesia. Yakob worked on various responsibilities including content and community management, moderation, blog competition, and reporting journalistic coverage. Yakob stayed with Kompas.com until November 2016.

From December 2016 to February 2018, Yakob worked at PT Alkemis Diksi Tee as a Co-Author for Business Product Development. Yakob was also appointed as the Chief of Kota Kembang Api Mahaparana Foundation during the same period.

In September 2018, Yakob joined KOMPASIANA as an Associate Moderator and worked there until September 2019. Then, they worked as a Reporter Brand News Room at detikcom from September 2019 to December 2019.

Currently, Yakob Arfin is working as a Content Marketing Specialist at Kompas.com since January 2020.

Yakob Arfin received their Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Community Development from Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) from the years 2008 to 2012.
