Cathrine Westad Salthammer currently serves as a Senior Advisor at Utenriksdepartementet since April 2023. Previously, Salthammer held positions including Senior Advisor at Finansdepartementet and a local politician as a permanent member of the political committee and substitute in the municipal council for Nordre Follo kommune. With extensive experience in national security and defense, Salthammer worked as a Senior Advisor in multiple ministries, including the Ministry of Justice and Public Security and the Ministry of Defence. Salthammer has a solid educational background, holding a Master of Arts in Law & Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and various other degrees in international relations, security studies, and languages. Military service includes roles as an officer within the Norwegian Armed Forces, including deployments in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
