Nagesh Mahanthappa has a wealth of experience in the corporate and nonprofit sectors. In 2021, they became Executive Chair of Exo Therapeutics and an Independent Director of Abata Therapeutics. In 2020, they joined Casma Therapeutics as an Independent Director. In 2021, they also became an Independent Director of Kojin Therapeutics.
In 2017, they became a Non Executive Director of Camena Bioscience. In 2021, they co-founded Movement Arts Creation Studio and serves as a Board Member. In 2018, they joined the Council of the Massachusetts Audubon Society and was elected to the Board in 2020, where they currently serve as Vice Chair. In 2016, they joined the Board of Massachusetts Rivers Alliance. In 2014, they became President of the Board of Directors of Global Arts Live.
Nagesh Mahanthappa has also held leadership roles at Scholar Rock, where they served as president, CEO and member of the Board of Directors from Oct 2012- June 2020, Scientific Advisor from Jul 2020- Jun 2021, and Interim CEO from Jul 2021 - Nov 2022.
Nagesh Mahanthappa received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology (MCDB) & Chemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1985. Nagesh then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neurobiology at Caltech, which they completed in 1991. In 1996, they earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Babson F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business.
