Isabel Arends serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Science at Utrecht University since July 2018 and holds positions as a Commissaris at Utrecht Holdings, and a Member of both the Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen and KNAW - Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen. Previously, Isabel Arends was a Vice Chair at NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) until December 2018 and held an academic career at TU Delft, culminating as Chair of the Department of Biotechnology and as a Professor in Biocatalysis and Organic Chemistry, contributing to globally recognized research and education in green chemistry and biotechnology. Isabel Arends earned a Master's degree and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Leiden University and is currently enrolled in a program at IMD since February 2023.
