Taariq Essa began their work experience in 2014 as a General Electrical Technician and Computer Technician at Exquisite Cakes CC. Taariq then worked at Cobham SATCOM from 2016 to 2017 as an Electrical Engineering Technician, where they successfully completed a project involving designing a new facility and managing construction. In 2017, Taariq joined LED Lighting SA as an Electrical Engineer, where they were involved in new product design, LED lighting design, technical calculations, PCB design, and project management. From 2018 to 2021, Taariq worked at Dihlase Consulting Engineers as an Electrical Technologist. In 2021, they joined Zutari as a Senior Electrical Technologist. Currently, Taariq is working at TNT Forex Group as the Director and Managing Partner. In 2023, they will start a new role as the Lead Electrical Engineer at Kirby Group Engineering.

Taariq Essa completed their National Senior Certificate at Islamia College from 2010 to 2012. Taariq then pursued a degree in ND Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Industrial Electronics at Cape Peninsula University of Technology from 2013 to 2016. In 2017, they furthered their education at the same institution and obtained a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. In January 2019, Taariq achieved the certification of Candidate Technologist from the Engineering Council of South Africa. Additionally, they have an incomplete certification as a Professional Engineering Technologist from the same institution.
