Marcela D. Evans is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in advocacy, immigration law, and community engagement. Currently serving as the Acting Managing Director and Acting National Senior Attorney at Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), Marcela manages the El Paso field office, overseeing operations, team development, and stakeholder relationships to support detained immigrant children. Previous roles include founding Evans Legal, PLLC, where Marcela focused on immigration, family law, and community building, and serving as the Attorney/Director of the Children's Program at the Human Rights Initiative of North Texas, where Marcela was instrumental in developing programs for child clients. With a Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin, Marcela demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion within the legal profession.
