Renee Garrett

Chess Coach at Kid Chess

Renee Garrett is an experienced educator and chess coach with a focus on cognitive and developmental processes for children in grades K-5 at Kid Chess since October 2013. With a longstanding role as a substitute teacher for Fulton County Schools since 2007, Renee has also worked extensively with diverse educational needs, including EIP, Special Needs, and Special Education classes. Prior to current roles, Renee served as Education Coordinator at Atlanta Urban Ministries for five years, developing and instructing reading programs for homeless children and managing initiatives for homeless youth at My Sister's House Homeless Shelter. Academically, Renee holds a B.S. in Human Services/Social Science from Metropolitan College of New York, a MACC in Community Counseling from Argosy University Atlanta, and has pursued an M.S. in Psychology with a specialization in Organizational Psychology and Non-Profit Management at Walden University.
