Traver Gruen-Kennedy is Chief Strategist and Vice President, Strategy at Citrix Systems, Inc., an S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 company. A key member of the Citrix Strategy and Technology team, he reports to Citrix's Chairman and CTO with worldwide responsibility for strategic planning and partnering relationships in advanced communications and applications hosting markets.
A global technology leader, he is ranked by NetworkWorld magazine (along with Michael Dell and Bill Gates) as one of the "25 Most Powerful People in Networking". Earlier this year, he was recognized for his contribution to society and to the technology industry by being named a Technology Pioneer at the 2000 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Gruen-Kennedy is considered by many to be the "Father of the ASP industry". He was elected and serves as the Chairman of the ASP Industry Consortium, an international advocacy group formed, by 300 leading technology companies, to champion and set worldwide standards for the ASP (application service provider) industry. Frequently quoted, his views regularly appear in the Financial Times, Investor's Business Daily, Fortune magazine and in the televised global media such as CNBC and CNN.
During ITU-Telecom'99, at CERN in Geneva- the birthplace of the World Wide Web - Gruen-Kennedy shared his vision of The Future of the Web upon its 10th anniversary. Part of this vision is being realized today by the founding of an ASP Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center being created by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with the ASP Industry Consortium. In the near future, ASPs will be able to provide their customers with services through a single contract recognized by some 160 countries.
Prior to joining Citrix Mr. Gruen-Kennedy served as a consultant developing corporate strategies for technology suppliers Lucent Technologies, Sun Microsystems, Nortel, Teledesic and Xerox. Additionally, he developed IT strategies for enterprise clients L.L.Bean and Scott Paper Company. Earlier, he contributed to policy development and legislation with policy-makers including the ITU (International Telecommunications Union), the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), and the United States Senate.
Mr. Gruen-Kennedy is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. He received specialized training in early-stage technology venture management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
