Tom Carroll has a long history of work experience in the software engineering field. Tom began their career at Microsoft in 2004 as a Software Design Engineer In Test, where they developed automation and test tools for Windows Vista setup. In 2005, they moved to a Software Design Engineer role, where they developed client and server-side MMORPG code for the game Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. In 2007, they returned to a Software Design Engineer In Test role, where they developed automation, tools, and unit tests for various Xbox Live enabled web applications and online components. In 2009, they worked in the 343 Industries team on Halo 4, developing testing and support tools to integrate Halo 4 with Halo Waypoint. In 2013, they moved to Draculogic LLC as a Game Developer, working mainly as a solo developer on an open-world building and crafting game called The Expedition. In 2021, they began working as a Software Engineer at Kazoo Games.
Tom Carroll received their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Cornell University between 1996 and 2000. Tom then went on to complete the Game Development Certificate Program at the University of Washington in 2002, where they acquired computer games and programming skills.
