Sebastian Lewandowski

Sebastian Lewandowski has extensive experience in neuroscience research, currently serving as an Affiliated Researcher at the Karolinska Institutet since August 2005, where leadership of a research team focusing on ALS-FTD disease mechanisms is a primary responsibility. Previous roles include Senior Researcher and Engineer, along with project management in studying the blood-brain barrier related to ALS neurodegeneration. Sebastian has contributed to various scientific endeavors, including over 150 awarded grant applications and authorship of multiple scientific papers and conference presentations. Research efforts at KTH Royal Institute of Technology from July 2018 to March 2020 encompassed studying vascular injury in ALS, FTD, and Alzheimer's disease through various advanced methodologies. Sebastian's academic foundation includes a PhD from the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology and a PhD studentship at the Institute Gustave Roussy, focusing on the estrogen receptor beta's role in breast cancer. Education includes an MSc in Biology from the University of Gdansk and entrepreneurial studies at the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship.
