Travis Kalanick is an American entrepreneur and the co-founder of Uber. Travis served as the CEO from 2010 until June 2017, leading the company from its infancy. During his tenure, Uber grew to become one of the world’s highest-valued private companies, operating in more than 70 countries, employing over 15,000 people and completing more than 5 billion rider trips. Prior to Uber, Travis founded Red Swoosh, a peer-to-peer file sharing company that was acquired by Akamai Technologies in 2007. While in college, he co-founded Scour, a peer-to-peer search engine. He is a native of Los Angeles and learned to code in middle school before studying engineering at UCLA.
Travis currently serves on the Board of Directors of Uber and Didi Chuxing, and is an angel investor in Expensify, Kareo, LiveFyre and StyleSeat
