Khalid Afaneh has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Khalid is currently serving as the Laboratory Medical Director at Heartland Pathology Diagnostics, LLC since 2022. Prior to this, they held the same position at Kansas Medical Center, L.L.C. starting in 2020. At Kansas Medical Center, they also served as a member of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee.
Before their role at Kansas Medical Center, Khalid worked as a Hematopathologist at Heartland Pathology from 2018 onwards. Khalid gained clinical experience during their Clinical Internship at Princess Basma Educational Hospital from 2008 to 2009. Additionally, they completed Elective Training at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston from November 2007 to January 2008.

From 2017 to 2018, Khalid completed a Pathology Fellowship in Surgical Pathology at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to that, from 2016 to 2017, they also completed a Pathology Fellowship in Hematopathology at the same institution.
Between the years 2012 and 2016, Khalid pursued a Pathology Residency at Albany Medical Center, specializing in pathology (Anatomic and Clinical).
In the period from 2009 to 2012, they completed a Family Medicine Residency Program at Jordan University of Science and Technology.
Earlier on, from 2002 to 2008, Khalid obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology. Additionally, in 2002, they passed the General Secondary Examination from Dubai Secondary School.
Moreover, Khalid has acquired various certifications. In 2017, they obtained the American Board in Hematopathology certification from the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Similarly, in 2016, they obtained the American Board in Pathology (Anatomic and Clinical) certification from the same institution.
Furthermore, Khalid earned their Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (M.B.B.S) degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2008. Additionally, they obtained a General Secondary Examination certification from the Ministry of Education in Dubai, UAE in 2002.
Finally, Khalid obtained a Kansas Medical License from the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts in April 2018.
