Mrs. Kalyani set up the Cold Forging Division of the company in 2000 and established a greenfield facility called Precision Autocomp Division for medium-size forgings and machining at Sanaswadi, on the north-east outskirts of Pune. She made Kalyani Forge the first forgings company in India to have fully integrated hot, warm and cold forging with precision machining capabilities in-house. She was then promoted to Managing Director in the year 2005.
She was on the Board of Kalyani Forge since 1996-97 and started managing the Company since 2000 and was appointed as Chairperson and Managing Director of the Company in 2013.
Mrs. Rohini Kalyani, didn’t stop at the initial success with technology upgradation. In 2005, she started state of art machining division and she pulled together a team to develop the country’s first successful fracture-split connecting rods in house and soon the company became well known for its prowess in connecting rods. Up until this point, all OEMs were manufacturing these in-house due to lack of a technologically strong precision forging suppliers. This was a game changer for the automotive industry, as OEMs could now get ready-to-assemble critical engine components which saved a lot of lead time and cost overall. In 2000, she did technology tie up with United Kingdom (UK) based Company for warm and cold forging. In 2003-04 she started with the export business from Kalyani Forge Limited and supplied to MNC OEM viz. Cummins Komatsu Engine Inc (USA), Knorr- Bremse Vasuti Jarmu (Budapest), Cummins Asia Pacific Pte. (Singapore), Renault Trucks (France) and many more.
In 2015 onwards, Kalyani Forge forayed into transmission components for international customers. Mrs. Kalyani then invested to expand the Machining Division and set up a dedicated Transmission business division of the company adding advanced manufacturing process technologies like induction -hardening, broaching to its belt. This has helped to diversify the company away from engine components to ride the growing electric vehicle market.
Mrs. Rohini Kalyani has a grand vision for the future of company to make Kalyani Forge limited a truly world-class auto and industrial components manufacturing powerhouse.
