Robert Hagans is an experienced finance professional currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Audit Committee at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield since January 2016. In addition, Robert has held a Board of Directors position at Industrial Bank since January 2000 and at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies since January 2011. Previously, Robert served as the Chief Financial Officer for the National Association of Counties from October 2015 to May 2017 and as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at AARP from June 2001 to May 2015. Robert's earlier roles include Director of Finance for Prince George's County Government from 1995 to 2001 and Assistant Vice President for Asset Management and Treasury Operations at Howard University from 1987 to 1995, where responsibilities included managing significant endowment and retirement funds. Robert began a career in finance as Treasurer for the District of Columbia Government from 1985 to 1987 and holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago, along with a Bachelor's Degree from Lake Forest College.
