Ian Maclean MBE serves as the Managing Director of John Smedley Ltd, renowned for producing the World’s Finest Knitwear since 1784, and holds multiple Royal Warrants of Appointment, including those from Their Majesty The King and Their Late Majesty The Queen. As Chairman of the QEST (Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust) and the UK Fashion and Textile Association, Ian plays a pivotal role in supporting excellence in craftsmanship and the UK apparel industry. With a background in sales and marketing at Orvis Co Inc and investment management at 3i Group plc, along with an extensive educational foundation including degrees from the University of Cambridge and The Open University, Ian remains an influential figure in the textiles sector. Additionally, Ian has been an active member of The Clothworkers' Company, taking on leadership roles since 2020, and was recognized with an MBE for contributions to the Covid-19 response and the UK textiles industry.
