Arpan Chakraborty

Senior System Engineer -flight Deck Avionics at Joby Aviation

Arpan Chakraborty has a diverse work experience in the aviation industry. Arpan first worked at Air India as a Trainee Engineer, where they managed aircraft weighing and performed maintenance tasks on Boeing aircraft. Arpan then joined Honeywell Technology Solutions, Inc. as a Trainee Engineer, where they developed a Generic Aircraft Performance Calculator and analyzed software changes for FMS software load certification. Arpan was later promoted to the role of Engineer at the same company, where they led teams in designing display enhancements, developing new software components, and optimizing flight performance algorithms. After that, Arpan worked at Purdue University as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they focused on the General Aviation Safety Project and collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to develop a low-cost AHRS device and analyze data using machine learning algorithms. Most recently, Arpan joined Cirrus Aircraft as an Avionics and Electrical System Engineer, where they updated Garmin avionics hardware, created installation procedures, and led a team in testing and evaluating software updates. Arpan is currently employed at Joby Aviation as a System Engineer, focusing on Flight Deck Avionics.

Arpan Chakraborty completed their education in a chronological order as follows:

From 1994 to 2004, Arpan attended La Martiniere for Boys in Kolkata, where they completed their elementary and middle school education.

From 2004 to 2007, they studied at The Cathedral and John Connon School, earning an Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) in Science and Technical Drawing.

Between 2007 and 2009, Arpan attended D. G. Ruparel College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, obtaining a High School Diploma with a focus on Science, including subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science.

From 2009 to 2013, they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering at Manipal Institute of Technology.

Finally, Arpan attended Purdue University from 2016 to 2018, where they acquired a Master's Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering.

In addition, Arpan Chakraborty obtained several certifications. In 2014, they achieved a Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Honeywell Technology Solutions, Inc. In 2018, they obtained a Private Pilot License from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Furthermore, they acquired a Remote Pilot - Small Unmanned Aircraft System certification from the FAA in 2020 and an Instrument Rating - Private Pilot certification from the FAA in 2021.
