Andrew Bookholt

Equipment Design Staff Engineer at Joby Aviation

Andrew Bookholt has a diverse range of work experience in various engineering and technical roles. Andrew began their career as a Frame Attendant at Verizon Communications in 2006. Andrew then worked as a Mechanic/Fabricator at Ostendorf Ranch in 2007 and as a Warehouse/Stock Room Worker at California Polytechnic State University's El Corral Bookstore from 2008 to 2009.

In 2009, Andrew joined iFixit as a Lead Technical Writer, where they created repair guides and documented repair techniques. Andrew also developed a retail Red Ring of Death Fix Kit for Xbox 360 consoles.

From 2011 to 2017, Andrew worked at Bloom Energy as a Staff Equipment Engineer. In this role, they led a team of technicians in building complex thermo/electro/mechanical test equipment and introduced time and cost-saving solutions to SOFC test stand issues.

In 2017, they joined Primus Power as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. During their tenure, they designed and implemented miniaturized battery test cells and redesigned full footprint multi-cell test stands. Andrew also developed methods for non-invasive flow battery cell charge gap measurements.

Andrew's most recent position is at Joby Aviation, where they are employed as an Equipment Design Staff Engineer starting in 2018.

Andrew Bookholt earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Andrew attended the university from 2005 to 2010. In May 2010, they obtained the Engineer in Training (EIT) certification from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.
