Toru Yamamoto

Associate Principal Researcher / Project Manager at Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency

Toru Yamamoto is a seasoned aerospace researcher and project manager at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), having joined in October 2003. Currently serving as a Senior Researcher, Toru leads the JAXA Commercial Removal of Debris Demonstration (CRD2) Phase-I project and is responsible for GNC technology research and development, including cutting-edge spaceborne GPS receiver and relative navigation sensor technology. Previous roles at JAXA included Associate Senior Researcher and Engineer, where Toru focused on spacecraft formation flying missions and flight dynamics for earth observation satellites and deep space probes. Prior experience includes a position as a Guest Scientist at the German Aerospace Center, contributing to the PRISMA formation flying mission. Toru holds a Master of Science in Engineering from The University of Tokyo, specializing in Aeronautics and Astronautics.
