Patricia Gruber currently serves as the Science and Technology Adviser to the Secretary of State at the U.S. Department of State, engaging with academic and private research communities to shape foreign policy and promote international collaboration. Previous roles include Technical Director at the Office of Naval Research Global, where Patricia led a team of experts in technology awareness and research collaboration, and Vice President of Maritime Systems at Battelle, responsible for the unit's profit and loss. Patricia has also held positions at Penn State University, including Deputy Director of the Applied Research Laboratory, and at the Office of Naval Research, where responsibilities included overseeing the Discovery and Invention portfolio. Early in the career, Patricia worked in business development and technical roles at Marconi International Inc., AT&T Solutions, and AT&T Bell Laboratories. Patricia's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Penn State University, and both a Master of Science in Physical Oceanography and a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Marine Physics from the University of Miami.
